FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are hand swaged bullets?

Hand swaging is used to form bullets (projectiles) not loaded cartridges. Swaging is a process that uses high precision dies and matching punches by applying high pressure at room temperature to form our copper jackets. Swaging bullets yield better quality and more accuracy. Ammerman Arms’ handmade bullets go through a rigorous Quality Control Process to precisely control the bullet composition and shape.

  • What is the Ballistic Coefficient (BC) difference between G1 and G7?

Ballistic Coefficients are measurement of the bullet’s ability to overcome air resistance mid-flight. Typically, the higher the number, the lower the drag of the projectile and the better the bullet will cut through the air. G1 – The most common type of bullet which is flat base with 2 caliber nose ogive. G7 – Popular for extremely low drag bullets. G7 BC are long 7.5-degree boattails, with 10cal Tangent Ogive.

  • What is Ogive?

In ballistics an ogive is a pointed, curved surface used to form the streamlined nose of a bullet, reducing air resistance or the drag of air.

  • Where are your products made?

Our products are handmade in Harrison County, Cythiana, Kentucky.

  • What is a bullet meplat?

The meplat is the flat or open tip on the nose of a bullet. The size and shape of the meplat influences the ballistic coefficient of a bullet. The shape of the meplat is important in determining how the bullet travels through the air.
